Welcome to Specials

I am excited to introduce you to the Specials page. For every issue, The Scroll’s team of student writers, editors, photographers and graphic designers, alongside faculty support, will collaborate to investigate one issue, global or here on campus, in as much detail as possible. Alongside articles from the other pages of The Scroll, projects commissioned for the Specials page, such as this issue’s flow chart, will aim to represent a multifaceted approach for our reportage. 

This issue, we are examining the Deerfield community’s collective response to COVID-19. From the administration’s positive case protocol to creative student efforts towards masking to the finances behind the scenes, we are aiming to provide a holistic picture of how Deerfield continues to grapple and respond to COVID-19. We hope that our reportage will serve as a window into Deerfield’s historic return to campus: the protocols and logistics, but most importantly, the stories.
